Award winning young entrepreneur, Arthur Ebeling, shares a personal look inside his entrepreneurial journey and the lessons learned in battling a life-threatening illness and experiencing defeat in business. These lessons, reinforced with accounts of history's greatest heroes such as Alexander and Leonidas, serve as Ebeling's guide on his road to redemption. A book of strategy, self-empowerment and entrepreneurship, GREAT inspires as much as it informs.

When he studied thirteen companies which outperformed the stock market, Jim Collins identified "Level 5 Leaders" as one of the constants. According to Collins, this kind of leader is neither an optimist nor a pessimist, but a paradox. He sees his environment with intense realism while keeping an unwavering faith that he will conquer. He often develops this attitude as a result of a difficult personal challenge, such as a battle with cancer, or an important life event, such as a religious conversion.

Author Arthur Ebeling embodies the Level 5 attitude--determination married with realism--in part because of his trials with Lyme disease. Hardship alone does not make a man; his reaction to the hardship is as important as what he faces. Teachers from Epictetus to Victor Frankl have observed this. "Great" is the story of how Ebeling learned to overcome hardship.

Ebeling is not content to write a purely autobiographical book. Citing examples from history, he teaches a philosophy that the reader can apply to his or her life. Ebeling describes entrepreneurship not only as a means of making money, but as something more important: a way for individuals to achieve mastery, flourish, and contribute to society.

Our institutions of higher learning--with the notable exceptions of vocational and scientific fields--have often become self-serving special interests. Philosophy itself has atrophied. The "human studies" often revolve around collectivist cant or esoteric theory. Despite all the resources invested, our Universities do not provide a proportionate amount of solid advice to our students about how to achieve greatness in life.

As formal schooling continues to stagnate, opportunities for self-teaching are growing. The most under-valued assets young men and women have are libraries, book stores, and the Internet. A growing number of philosophers--intellectuals like to pigeonhole them as "business authors"--have released works which, unlike many college textbooks, provide practical advice for success. Examples of these modern philosophers: Robert Greene, Robert Kiyosaki, and, now, Arthur Ebeling.

GREAT eBook Arthur Ebeling Reviews

The author shares his triumphs and trials as an entrepreneur and his personal struggle with illness. Contains inspirational stories from historical figures (like Alexander, Peter the Great and other leaders). I really appreciated the author's honesty in sharing all of his decisions and costly mistakes. A great guide for all.
I had the opportunity to read Great recently and I can honestly say it touched a lot of topics that I had experienced in my own entrepreneurial journey. The book provided great strategies from a real perspective that made me believe that I wasnt alone in some of my experiences and inspired me to keep striving through the ones I am currently dealing with. A "Great" read for any entrepreneur!

I know Arthur on a personal level so I know this book is from his heart. The passion he puts forth into his works is beyond a level of comprehension anyone can image. He takes such pride in his work. Great is....exactly what it says it is. It's GREAT! Anyone and everyone should read this piece and be inspired to achieve a greater sense of being and success. Well done, and I am honored to be able to consider myself a friend of this inspirational individual.

In "Great", Arthur Ebeling produces an autobiographical, inspirational masterpiece. Ebeling's epic is cathartic. The baring of his soul, chapter after chapter, puts the reader in the passenger seat of this young man's hopes, dreams, triumphs, defeats, and despairs. You will root for this man as you read this. You will see yourself in all the situations in which Ebeling has been. For that alone, it's a book that is hard to put down. If there was a predecessor to "Great", it would be "Open" by Andre Agassi. I see the two books linked not only by tennis, but by the stunning honesty.
The person behind this book , is one amazing brillant and talented author. You can sense that in the way he stats certain topics and discusses life in his own words. I would recommend this book to school and business classes around the world
